More About
The Longer Story
Images and stories have always been of interest to me as well as making things with my hands.
Having been a documentary cameraman who has shot films in Europe, Asia and the US over a period of 12 years my eye was trained well for detail. Shooting documentaries requires planning of the story to be communicated and an understanding of the subject and the people involved. Hand in hand to this planning is the spontaneity to grab unplanned opportunities as they arise.
Over time I realised that making images is one thing but getting good images to the editor and director to "tell the story" is something more nuanced. This was also helped by having to edit my own images on several films. Being the editor I learned quickly what images worked and which didn’t. A quick way to learn.
During these years I freelanced for such esteemed European broadcasters as ARD, HR, WDR, NDR, BBC, Arte, Pro7, Sat1, and Channel 4,
In addition to my cinematography and editing I worked on and supervised a video archive project in London for 3 years that required colour grading and audio restoration converting old analogue tapes to digital.
Alongside this work I have written a play about Socrates, sculpted free forms in marble, built houses and designed and built customized wooden furniture.
For the last 40 years I have been inspired by Osho to incorporate meditation into my daily activities such as work and play, not just when I sit on my cushion and watch my breath! I find within this silent space a deep well of creativity. This inspires me to create images that communicate something of this empty yet positive space.
AI imaging and all the digital technology we have now gives me an expanded set of tools to communicate and express the depths within me that meditation continues to reveal.

The reason I have chosen AI and digital imaging is because it offers such a vast canvas of styles, literally billions! This has been such an exciting and fun exploration for me. From photo realistic images to abstract art to illustrations, AI offers endless creative possibilities.
Of all the teachings of Osho I have heard over the years his talks on Zen have had the biggest impact on me. Where, at the same time, simplicity and depth resonated in me like a harmonic of the heart. Hundreds of years ago Zen monks developed Zenga art to express and communicate their meditation, mindfulness and the natural, easy connection with life.
This is essentially why I have chosen the name Zenga Pixel. Pixel is the smallest digital point used to create an image. Plus, good ".com" names are very difficult to get!
